What is Homecoming 2010?

An all-Brats, all-Educators reunion for anyone associated with our special heritage!

Why The Washington DC Metro Area?

What will be significant about Homecoming 2010?

Whenever an OVERSEAS BRATS Homecoming is held, quite a few things happen. These include:

What opportunities are here for me and my (group) ?

Your alumni group/school/base/community could use this event as:

How can I make Homecoming 2010 affordable?

Call and reserve your room now. You won't be charged in full for it until after the event.

Since Homecoming 2010 could attract a lot of people, how do you keep people from the same schools/bases/communities, etc. together for their own quality time?

Let's divide this before the event and during the event.

Before the even:,

During the event, here's what OVERSEAS BRATS will do:

Recommendations for those different schools/bases/communities involved with this event?

How do we go about reserving tables for our group for the Friday and Saturday night functions? How will this work for such a large group?

First off, a week or two before Homecoming 2010, we'll look at how many people are registered from your school/group/base/community, then divide by 8 or 10 (the number of people who can sit at a large table; the hotel will advise us of that number.)

Case in point: If you have 150 people attending, and the hotel advises that they will seat in rounds of 10, your group will be allocated 15 tables.

Once the number of tables has been determined, you'll be advised and you'll be asked to bring that many cardboard signs with your all's group name on them in magic marker.

Before you leave for the event, we'll announce a time, place, and a person (probably one of our Directors) for you to deliver these signs to, and from whom you can see a table layout.

For the dinner functions themselves, the doors to the banquet room will open up 10-15 minutes early. OVERSEAS BRATS staff will be on hand to guide you and your group to your tables. We request that all groups be seated no later than 7:45 p.m. After that time period, OVERSEAS BRATS needs to reserve the right to seat people at any unoccupied space not taken up by any group.

How will people be admitted to the functions and activities?

Simple! Their specially-made Homecoming 2010 name badge is all they need to have "on their person."

Special diet requests?

No problem! Please let us know immediately so we can tell the hotel and arrange for a meal substitute for you. During the evening functions, you will need to alert the wait staff who you are so they can provide your meal.

How will hospitality rooms be divided up?

The division of hospitality rooms will depend on the following factors:

On or about July 20, 2010, the Hyatt Regency Reston will review how many rooms have been booked by Homecoming 2010 participants and advise us how many and what kind of hospitality rooms they will provide us.

At that point based on all the above criteria, a determination will be made as to who will be in which rooms.

Some past history here?

When Homecoming'99 was held, the Hyatt Regency Dallas-Fort Worth Airport rewarded us with 20 hospitality rooms. Records show from this event that individual hospitality suites were distrubuted with 35 registrants per alumni group/school/base/community.

NB: Hotel’s food and beverage policy:

Hotel's food and beverage policy: The Hyatt Regency Reston will be happy to provide your food and beverage in your hospitality rooms, at a special rate. Otherwise, they cannot allow for outside caterers to come into the rooms to serve food or beverage. Nor do they want you to have your own food and beverage in the hospitality rooms The reason for this is multi-fold: for insurance and liability reasons, and obviously it's their hotel. That said, OVERSEAS BRATS staff will not patrol the hospitality suites and tell you what not to bring into them.

Registration fee deadlines:

February 15, 2010, June 1, 2010, and July 15, 2010.

After each deadline, prices will increase.

Past experince has shown that having these deadlines in place motivates people to register.

OK, what happens if new people are "found" during or after any of these deadlines?

Up to July 1, 2010, any 'new' finds will be given a two week period to take advantage of the early registration fee. Otherwise the deadlines stated above will apply.

How late can people book a hotel room or register with OVERSEAS BRATS?

The cut-off date for booking a hotel room is July 13, 2010. After that date, it will depend on availability and the hotel's inventory to see if they will accept reservations.

Where registering with OVERSEAS BRATS is concerned, late registrations (at the fees mentioned below) will be accepted at the site.

What are the obligations or responsibilites my group/school/base/community and OVERSEAS BRATS would have if we agreed to be involved?

For your group, this would mean:

For OVERSEAS BRATS, this means:

Dress for events?

This is the DC metro area in summer time.

Shorts and t-shirs are fine during the day.
Evenings a blouse, shirt, and slacks will do.
This should make it easy for packing!

Once our people arrive at the reunion, where can they get information about the city?

We'll have information available from the Fairfax County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

How are you staffing this event?

We have a professional staff, some that have been involved with several OVERSEAS BRATS hosted events. Serving under their direction with be volunteer. All are Military Brats or Overseas Brats or their relations.

Who are the key staffers involved with Homecoming 2010?

The key staff (at this reporting) includes:

Do you need help?

YES!

And here are the areas we need help:

Security concerns?

Given the number of people involved at this and past Homecomings, security of all participants is a very high priority.

Accordingly OVERSEAS BRATS Homecoming 2010 staff will be working closely with Hyatt Regency Reston security staff to see that everyone has a safe and a good time.

Will tours be offered of the local area?

What is
OVERSEAS BRATS experience in hosting all-school reunions such as Homecoming? How many came to previous OVERSEAS BRATS-hosted Homecomings?

Joe Condrill is the President of OVERSEAS BRATS.
